Midlands Hindu Society and its affiliates have decided to launch a food seva project to supplement the hot meals and groceries hamper projects that MHS and its affiliates are presently managing on a daily basis by starting the MHS Garden Project.
The MHS Garden Project plan is to include schools and family units to grow fresh vegetables in order to supplement their own meal requirements at selected schools and homes.
Midlands Hindu Society has been able to build partnerships with suppliers and other similar minded organizations, viz. Sunshine Seedlings, Gandhi Memorial Committee, Mr Prakash Satyapal, and Jessica from the NPO Uplift our Knowledge”, as well as the Capital Media Group.
Through Phase 1 of this partnership, MHS is able to offer 10 schools 250 seedlings each and 10 families 5 “medium size” plants packs of Cabbage, Spinach & Cauliflower plants already in compost and round plastic bags which will make it easier to transplant. The seedlings will require nurturing for a further 4 to 8 weeks before the vegetables will be ready for harvesting.
The MHS Garden Project invites all interested schools and families wishing to benefit from this initiative to please contact the organisation via email on info@kznmhs.org or via Capital Media before the 23rd of August 2021. Seedlings and plant packs will be allocated to the first 10 schools and families that contacts MHS or Capital Media on a first come first serve basis.
The planned distribution date is scheduled for 01st September 2021 to coincide with the National Arbor Week 2021.
