On Friday 29th March 2019 Midlands Hindu Society called on all its members, affiliates and sponsors to donate 1 ton of canned beans, which can be eaten hot or cold, for the Mozambique and surrounding areas disaster relief drive being coordinated via Radio Hindvani.
Our aim was to donate at least 1 ton of canned beans by Friday 5th April 2019. We are humbled to announce that the community heeded our call and by the end of that day we had 1ton of beans within 1day. We were able to sponsor 3 Pallets of canned beans through the overwhelming support and contributions of our affiliates, members, senior citizens, sponsors which reaffirms our society’s commitment to our fellow African brothers and sisters in the time of their need.
Our society has illustrated the true spirit of Ubuntu, Vasudeva Kutumbagam and compassion during this natural disaster. We wish to wholeheartedly thank everyone who made a contribution towards this worthy cause.
