Midlands Hindu Society, which has facilitated the programme with the ICCR in Pietermaritzburg, is proud to be associated with Shanese Naicker who saw the opportunity to realise her dream of studying Kuchipudi abroad and successfully applied for the bursary. After spending 3 years at the Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata under the tutorship of Dr Madhuri Majumdar, Shanese successfully completed her studies and graduated with a B.A Degree in Dance.
There aren’t many Kuchipudi dancers in South Africa and to the delight of dance enthusiasts, particularly Kuchipudi enthusiasts, this dance form can now be learnt in Pietermaritzburg. Shanese, a vibrant dancer whose passion for the arts is clearly visible in her performances. She also a Bharatnatyam dancer and has training in various other dance styles.
