As always, there will be something for everyone as the Midlands Hindu Society puts together a festival to meet the tastes, sounds and visual pleasure of the wide mix of visitors to the festival. The three-day festival caters for the young and not-so-young with everything from music, dance, food, live bands, spiritual knowledge, fun, games, stalls, fun-fair, live radio broadcasts, cookery demonstrations and a host of other items of interest.
Some of this year’s highlights will be the Diwali Dhamaka Dance-Off 2018 that takes place on Friday, October 26 and gives dance enthusiasts the chance of walking away with cash prizes of R1000 in each category while doing what they enjoy. The much anticipated annual float parade is back this year and sets the ball rolling for the Saturday programme. Other highlights include drum majorettes, Radio Hindvani live broadcasts, dance items by Pietermaritzburg’s leading dance schools, live bands and fireworks display.
Look out for well-known stage artists Vikesh Moonilal, Kugen Munsamy, Keeran Ishwarlal and Geet Sungeeth who will grace the festival this year.
